Ingredients

1 pint of water
100g/4oz of caster sugar
2-4 cinnamon sticks
4 cloves
1 nutmeg
2 oranges – thinly sliced
1 bottle of red wine


Preparation

  • Boil 1 pint of water with the sugar and spices in a saucepan for 5 minutes 
  • Add the oranges and remove from heat and set aside for 15 minutes
  • Stir in wine. Heat slowly without boiling
  • Serve in preheated glasses.

We have since started adding a good splash of cherry brandy to this. Because MORE BOOZE is always welcome.
